Albertsons Doubler Ideas

Can you believe we got 4 doublers in today's Albertsons ad? I'm thinking they are trying to cut down on the multiple transactions, but whatever the reason, I'm not complaining.

Pumpkin Seed Recipes

My guess is that if you spent your morning carving pumpkins like we did, you have some seeds to use. Here are a few recipes for pumpkin seeds.

Classic

Melt 1/2 stick butter & toss the seeds in it. Sprinkle with salt & bake for about 45 minutes at 300 degrees.

BMIM reader Julie said she tosses the seeds in soy sauce or teriyaki sauce & then bakes. Yvonne told me she mixes cumin with the butter for a bit of a kick. Yum! Another option is to toss the seeds with butter, place them on your baking sheet, & then sprinkle with equal parts cinnamon & sugar.

If you want to get more adventurous, try Pumpkin Seed Beer Brittle or Pumpkin Seed Cream Sauce & serve it with pumpkin ravioli. Yum!

Last Day to Print October Coupons

Today is the last day of the month, so if you want any of the online coupons, you'd better print them now. I can't wait to see what coupons will be up for November. My guess is a lot of toy coupons!

$26 in Magazines as Low as $7

For the next few days you can get a great deal over at Eversave. Vouchers for $26 worth of magazine subscriptions are just $12. However, if you've never purchased from Eversave before, you will get a $5 credit just for signing up, which would bring your total down to $7.

The voucher is through Blue Dolphin magazines, & there are tons to choose from. If you have been wanting to try All You magazine, which is often referred to as the "couponer's magazine" because of the high value coupons in every issue, it's $19.99. Add in another subscription such as Esquire or Redbook (both are just $8) & your total would look like this: $27.99 (both subscriptions) - $26 voucher = 1.99 + $7 paid for voucher = $8.99. That's just 43 cents per magazine! You will definitely recoup the $8.99 in savings from the coupons in All You!

Head over to Eversave & take a look at the deal. You have 2 days to purchase the voucher, but Eversave deals occasionally sell out, so don't delay if you want it.

Organic Honeycrisp Apples $1.49/lb.

Living in Washington, we know apples. In my opinion, Honeycrisp apples are one of the best (if not the best) tasting apples out there. They usually cost a bit more, but are soooo worth it.

So you can imagine how excited I was to find out that organic Honeycrisp apples will be just $1.49 per pound at all Whole Foods Market locations this Friday, October 29th. That's half off!

Stock up because this is a great bargain. Make homemade applesauce, pie filling, caramel apples....or just enjoy them plain. I'm telling you....try a Honeycrisp apple...you'll thank me after!

Tasty Tuesday...er, Wednesday

Sorry I didn't get this posted yesterday! This week's recipe is beyond easy to make & super cute, as you can see above. The photo isn't the best since I used my cell phone, but you get the general idea. My parents watched my daughter while I was at the doctor yesterday, & they made these adorable Ghost Cookies.
You'll need Nutter Butter cookies, white chocolate chips, & mini chocolate chips. Melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave or in your double boiler (or just use white frosting). Either dip the cookies into the melted white chocolate or spoon it over the cookies. Place the mini chocolate chips on them for eyes & voila! Little ghost cookies. Super easy & super cute!

6 Method Reed Diffusers for $19.99!

Today only over at Shnoop they are selling 6 packs of Method Reed Diffusers for $19.99. That makes them $3.33 each! Additionally, you get free shipping!
This would be a super economical way to give little gifts this holiday season. Think teacher gifts, hostess gifts, White Elephant gift exchanges, etc. If you keep one or two for yourself, I won't tell!

50% off 1 Outerwear Item at Old Navy

Old Navy reached their 1 millionth Facebook fan & to celebrate they released a coupon for 50% off any 1 outerwear item. I was going to post the link today to let you print it out....but they took the link down! Sorry, guys....I dropped the ball on this one.

You can still use the online code, though. Enter: OUTER50 at checkout. Shipping is a flat rate of $7 or free if you spend $50 or more when you use code: ONSUPER50. I'm not sure if you can stack both codes, but it's worth a shot. Even if you have to pay for shipping, you will likely save more using the 50% off code, so it will be worth it. Don't forget you can order from Banana Republic, Gap, & Piperlime as well as Old Navy & have one big order, so you might hit the $50 total that way.

I'm going to order a dressy coat for my daughter for Sunday mornings at church. Darn it, I wish I had printed out that coupon yesterday. I wish I had told you guys about it yesterday, too! My bad, everyone.

This deal is good through the 28th, so hurry if you want to take advantage of it.

$60 to Spend at Kate Quinn as Low as $25

Did you hear that? It was the sound of my head exploding, because this is a great deal from Eversave! Tuesday & Wednesday, head over to Eversave & purchase a $60 voucher for Kate Quinn Organics for just $30. If you're a new Eversave customer however, you will get a $5 credit just for signing up, which would bring your total down to $25!

If you've been reading my blog for any time, you know how much I love Kate Quinn Organics; I've blogged about their products before & even gave away an organic onesie. The cotton is 100% organic & Fair Trade certified. Every item I've purchased from Kate Quinn Organics is so soft! In fact, I have the dress pictured above in my daughter's closet right now.
Let's talk about conventional cotton. Here are a few facts about how conventional cotton is farmed:
  • $2 billion worth of chemicals are sprayed on the global cotton crop annually.
  • Almost half of those chemicals are toxic enough to be classified as "hazardous" by the World Health Organization.
  • Cotton is responsible for the release of 16% of global insecticides; more than any other crop.
  • Cotton covers 2.5% of the world's cultivated land, yet it accounts for 24% of the world's insecticide market & 11% of the global sales of pesticides.
  • Aldicarb, the second best selling pesticide for cotton production, can kill a human with one drop absorbed through the skin, yet it is used in 25 countries, including the US, where 16 states have reported it in their groundwater.
  • Processing cotton uses many chemicals including silicone waxes, ammonia, formaldehyde & chlorine dioxide.

Those facts are why I believe organic cotton is so important. However, it can be hard to find & usually costs significantly more than conventional cotton. That's why I'm so excited about this Kate Quinn Eversave deal! If you've ever considered purchasing some organic clothing items for your kids, you really need to head over to Eversave & purchase this voucher.

Queen Bee Coupons was kind enough to give me the heads up that this deal was going live so I stayed up a few minutes longer to post the deal for you guys. Thanks so much, Heather!

Great Wolf Lodge Recap

Now that I've caught up on laundry, gone grocery shopping, & we have gotten back to our normal routine, I wanted to share my thoughts about our weekend at Great Wolf Lodge. As you know, last weekend I participated in the Pacific NW Blogger conference at Great Wolf Lodge. I got to meet & spend time with some amazing NW bloggers, including:

If you're considering a trip to Great Wolf Lodge, I wanted to share a few thoughts after our 2 nights there.

The accommodations are great! We stayed in a Family Suite, which was more than enough for us. It had 2 queen beds, mini fridge, microwave, & a sitting area with a pull out couch & table & chairs. The beds weren't too hard (I hate that) & there were several types of pillows (soft & firm) so everyone was happy.

The lodge is amazing. There are animals all over that move & talk to you, there is a massive stone fireplace in the main foyer area, arcades, a spa, Cub Club, numerous dining options, you name it, they likely have it. Of course, the real attraction is the water park.

My daughter's favorite was the wave pool. She absolutely loved jumping in the waves! There are several different water slides, a kiddie pool, hot tub, & more. The lifeguards are nationally certified, & it's amazing to watch how they keep track of what's going on in the water. As you can see by the photo above, my husband certainly had a blast!

Dining isn't an inexpensive option at Great Wolf, but I honestly expected it to cost more than it did. We had dinner on Saturday evening at the Camp Critter restaurant. The food was okay; not great, but not bad, either. I was a little annoyed at how long a wait we had when we went down around 5:15. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I didn't expect to wait approximately 30 minutes. Maybe they needed more servers, or maybe we should have picked another dining option. My daughter did fall in love with the wolf ear headband she received with her kids meal, though!

Here are a few tips if you are going to stay at Great Wolf:

  • Spend some time eating meals in your room. You can order pizza for lunch or dinner & with the mini fridge & microwave you could easily make oatmeal, soup, mac & cheese, etc. Or just have muffins & juice for breakfast. This will cut down on your expenses, but more importantly, it will give you a little down time. The lodge is very stimulating & it was nice to just chill out in our room for breakfast on Sunday.
  • Get there early. Check in is at 4pm, but you can arrive early & get your water park wristbands. We got there around 5:15 & check in took far too long. There were 3 clerks working check in, however 1 left (to go on break, I assume), then 1 went to deal with a customer's question, so that left 1 clerk checking in an insanely long line. I think check in took us about 25 minutes, which seems like too long. Check in early to avoid some of the wait & get in the water park early (there are locker rooms to change into your suits since you can't get into your rooms until 4).
  • Stay late! Check out is at 11am, but again, you can use the water park & the locker rooms to change when you are done. Get the most out of your time there!
  • Consider eating outside the resort. There are numerous options within a 10 minute drive. We ate at Burgerville on Friday night (yum!). There's even a restaurant called Burger Claim just across the parking lot from the lodge that I heard good things about. We got the menu & the prices are very affordable. I wish we had tried it!
  • Go mid week. The room rates tend to be lower & I'm guessing it would be less crowded.

One thing that surprised me is that there is 30,000 square feet of conference rooms at Great Wolf Lodge. I asked if they ever do weddings, & was told they do. Recently at another Great Wolf Lodge, a couple got married at the top of a water slide. Right after they kissed, they hopped on, & started their marriage off with a real splash! (Yes, I realize that was a corny pun, but I couldn't resist!) I think a wedding, in particular a second wedding where there will likely be lots of kids, at Great Wolf would be incredible. Fun for everyone!

We loved it there & my daughter told us she wanted to stay "for 100 years." She's already asked me twice when we can go back. If you are wondering whether or not you will enjoy it, the answer is yes. There is enough to do to keep everyone occupied. I highly recommend you check out Great Wolf Lodge; you won't regret it!

(Note: Great Wolf Lodge provided me with a discounted room rate. However, all opinions are my own. I was not compensated in any way for this post.)

It's a Woot Off Day!

What’s a Woot Off, you ask? Normally Woot.com sells one deal a day & when it sells out, that’s it for the day. With a Woot Off, a deal is posted, but when it sells out, another deal goes up.

The first deal I saw worth posting is this Scooba iRobot floor washing robot for $179.99. I used to have the Roomba iRobot vacuum & loved it, so I'm assuming the Scooba would be just as good. In fact, I kinda want one for my hardwood floors.

Make sure you check Woot & all of it’s sister sites repeatedly today, because you never know when the next deal will go live. Woot on during this Woot Off!

Cruise Portugal & Spain for $123/Night

I wish I had both the time & money to go on this cruise, because it's a fantastic bargain. But sadly, I don't. If you do, though...go because this would be amazing!

Right now you can book a 13 night cruise on the Celebrity Solstice that sails May 1-14 for $1599 (inside cabin) including airfare from either Los Angeles or San Francisco! That's just $123 per night for food, entertainment, lodging, & transportation! You can book an outside cabin for just $100 more or a balcony cabin for $200 more.

This is a repositioning cruise, which is why it's such a steal. You'll depart Fort Lauderdale, spend 6 nights at sea, then visit Lisbon, Seville/Cadiz, Malaga/Granada, & Barcelona. This cruise sound amazing!

Contact The Cruise Company for more details or to book your cruise.

Groupon has a great deal today! You can purchase a $70 voucher for Eco Earth Manor Online & it will only cost you $35. That's half off! Standard USPS shipping is also included!

As usual with Groupon, this deal is good for today only (but you have a year to use the voucher). Purchase your voucher here. If you don't see the Eco Earth Manor deal, click "view more cities" & select Boise.

Thanks for the heads up, Abby!

Men's Raymond Weil Watch $399.99

I know $400 for a watch doesn't seem like a deal, but trust me....it is for a Raymond Weil. Today only at Shnoop, you can get a Raymond Weil Sport Chronograph Men's watch for $399.99.

Normally I wouldn't post something like this, but as I said it is a good deal for a Raymond Weil & the holidays are coming up. So if you're in the market for a watch for someone special, it's worth checking out.

New $5/$25 Rite Aid Coupon

UPDATE: It's come to my attention that this coupon is fraudulent, so I've removed the link. I'm so sorry if any of you ran into problems with this coupon! I don't endorse unethical couponing, so I feel terrible about this.

Thank you to The Coupon Project for doing some sleuthing to determine the validity (or lack thereof) of this coupon.

Here's a new $5/$25 Rite Aid coupon. It's a PDF & is valid through 11/30/10, so feel free to print several copies. Remember, you can use this coupon before any MQ's, so you can really get some great deals at Rite Aid with it.

Tag Jr, Reader $10 + Free S/H!!

This is an insane deal & will make a fantastic gift! Target has the LeapFrog Tag Junior Book Pal marked down to just $10....from $29.99. Plus, shipping is free!

Normally the books are around this price, so getting the reader for $10 is unbelievable. I called my local Target & the in store price is $29.99, so definitely order this online.

Even if you don't need this, the price is low enough you may want to consider this for a Toys for Tots donation. Just imagine a child's face if they received this when they didn't think they would get anything at all!

Thanks for the tip, The Thrifty Thumb!

My guess is, these will sell fast, so get there early for the best selection of sizes & colors.

BMIM Spotlight at Simply Stacie

If you're here because you read about BMIM over at Simply Stacie, then welcome! I hope you find this blog relevant & that you stick around.

If you are already a BMIM reader, Simply Stacie was gracious enough to do a blog spotlight feature on me. Feel free to take a look at it & learn a bit more about me (& yes, I really need a pedicure). While you're there, check out Stacie's site. It's an invaluable resource for giveaways, product reviews, & blogging information. This lady knows her stuff!

Thanks for the spotlight, Stacie. I very much appreciate it & all that you do!

Seattle Restaurant Week

Today is the start of Seattle Restaurant Week. The name is actually a little misleading because this event runs from October 17th - 28th. The complete list of participating restaurants is here.

If you're unfamiliar with this, the restaurants offer 3 course meals for $25 & many offer a 3 course lunch for $15. This is quite a bargain compared to what you would normally pay to eat at these restaurants!

Back in the days before we had our daughter, we dined at many of these places, however there are a few new restaurants on the list that I'm dying to try. Now if I can only manage to get free babysitting, then I'll be set!

Organic Lollipops as Low as $.06!

Amazon has a hot deal on YummyEarth Organic candy through October 31st. Use the Subscribe & Save option to save 15% off your order & get free shipping (you can cancel at any time). Then use code: SEPYUMMY at checkout to save an additional 20%, bringing your total discount to 35% off.

You could snag this container (approx. 125 lollipops) for $10.98, or $.09 cents per lollipop. This 5 pound bag (approx. 325 lollipops) would be $18.30, which is just $.06 each!

Why would you want that many organic lollipops? Pass them out on Halloween! The kids will still get a sweet treat, but at least it will be organic. Plus you won't have to run out to the store to get them; let the UPS man do all the work!

My daughter loves these lollipops, so don't be concerned about the flavor. I've never met anyone who didn't like them, so I'm confident your trick or treaters would be happy.

Imagine Children's Museum: Get in Free!

We love the Imagine Children's Museum in Everett. And today is Friday Night Live which means you get in free! Head over between 5:30-9:00 pm & your entire family will get in free.

We went to the Friday Night Live one night last spring & let me tell you, it was a zoo. Seriously, we left after about 45 minutes because we were getting a little freaked out by how many people were there. However, with free admission, it's no big deal if you leave early, so why not try it out?

Huge Sale at all Firestone Stores in WA

It's hard to save money on auto maintenance, so when I find a deal on it, I always share with you guys. Firestone Complete Auto Care stores in Washington state have a massive sale going on through Sunday, October 17th on tires. All season & winter tires are even included!

A few months ago, Sandi at the Everett Firestone saved the day for me. Her price was over $300 less than what Costco & Les Schwab quoted me & well over $200 less than what Discount Tires quote was. I was thrilled & Sandi was awesome! If you are in South Snohomish County, give her a call or go visit her at the Everett location.

Search for locations in Washington on Firestone's website. If you need tires for the nasty weather that's headed our way, you really need to check the prices at Firestone this weekend!

Thanksgiving Air Fare Sale

It's a fact of life that traveling during the holidays usually costs more. However, you may be in luck this year: Continental has an airfare sale going on now for over 250 destination with travel dates between November 20-24. Round trip airfares start at $108.

I found Seattle to Newark for $418. Houston to Chicago is $230. There are some great deals, so take a look here.

Hanna Andersson Monster Outlet Sale

I lurve me some Hanna Andersson, so this has me super excited! Starting Friday, October 15th & going through Sunday, October 31st, Hanna Andersson Outlets will be having their huge Monster Sale. 2009 Fall items will get an extra 50% off, bringing the total savings up to 70%!

There are even discounts on current Hanna items, including:
  • All 2010 tights, $10
  • All 2010 baby sleepers, turtles, short johns, & play dress leggings, $15
  • All 2010 long johns & play dresses, $20

It’s worth nothing, many Hanna items are made with organic cotton. Even if it’s non organic cotton, they typically meet the Oeko Tex Standards used in Europe that test for over 100 harmful substances.

I have found that Hanna Andersson clothes are so well made, they look virtually brand new wash after wash. They use European sizing, so my daughter has often gotten several years of wear out of an item instead of outgrowing it in a few months. Hanna Andersson clothing costs a bit more, but I feel that in the long run, you definitely get your money’s worth out of them.

This sale will be popular, so go early for the best selection in sizes, colors, etc. You can search for the outlet locations here.

Have you gotten your November issue of Parents yet? Make sure you grab that Amazon 20% off diapers coupon, because the hot diaper deal from Amazon is back!

If you haven't joined Amazon Mom yet, you need to do so right now (even if you aren't a mom, you still get some great benefits from joining)! You'll get 30% off your diaper purchase when you join Amazon Mom & use the Subscribe & Save option. Don't worry, you can cancel your subscription at any time & are not obligated to get any additional orders if you don't want them.

Then, use the 20% off coupon from Parents at checkout. This will get you an additional 20% off the already discounted price, making it a total of 50% off. Plus, you will get free 2 day shipping!

This offer is good on all brands, including the eco friendly ones such as Seventh Generation, Earth's Best, gDiaper, & more. For instance, you could get 140 size 3 Seventh Generation diapers for $22.39 after the Subscribe & Save discount & the coupon. That is just $.16 per diaper! We're talking chlorine free diapers, too!
