Free Admission to US National Parks

Click here to see a list of US National Parks that have Fee Free Weekends. This is great if you're planning any trips this summer.

I don't remember which blog I saw this on earlier today, so if it was you that posted it...um, thanks!

Quiznos BOGO Coupon

Click here to print out a BOGO free coupon for Quiznos. You can use it on a sub, regular chopped salad, or Toasty Torpedo.

Thanks to the always hysterical (seriously, her blog makes me laugh my butt off) Unemployment Survival for this freebie.

Free Snuggle Fabric Softener

So, I was reluctant to post this deal, because it involves Kmart, & you guys know what I think about Kmart now! But, I had an a-ha moment & realized that you can still get free Snuggle without having to go to Kmart.

Yesterday there was a coupon in the paper for $3 off Snuggle. In the Kmart ad also in yesterday's paper, they have Snuggle 64 oz bottles on sale for $2.50. Take the ad into Target & get them to price match the Kmart price, use the $3/1 coupon, have them adjust it down (per their coupon policy here) & score free fabric softener.

If you find another deal using this Snuggle coupon, leave a comment!

Arm & Hammer Toothpaste Sample

I love samples for traveling, to have on hand when we have overnight guests, or just to try a new product. Get a free sample of Arm & Hammer Advance White toothpaste. It's being reported that clicking on a link won't work, so you'll have to cut & paste http://advancewhiteclean.com/ into a new browser window (or try it...you may get lucky).

Thanks to Deal Seeking Mom for this freebie.

Tarte up to 50% Off at Sephora.com

If you love Tarte cosmetics, or have been wanting to try this brand, head over to Sephora.com because select products are up to 50% off. The promo end date isn't specified, so if you're interested in this deal, order now to ensure you don't miss out.

$1.50 Right Guard Coupon on Facebook

Become a fan of Right Guard on Facebook & get a $1.50 coupon. Hit your back button twice after it starts to print & print a second coupon. And while you’re on Facebook, become a fan of BMIM!

Ecover Coupons

If you want to use these Ecover coupons, hurry...because they expire 3/31/10. While Ecover products aren't organic, they are eco friendly.

I really like Ecover products, so I might use these with some Albertsons doublers to score even more savings!

Another Bath & Bodyworks Coupon

Here's another coupon from Bath & Bodyworks! This time you'll get a free Signature Collection shower gel (up to $10.50 value) with any $10 or more purchase. I can typically use more than 1 coupon on the same transaction, so try using this one & the free travel sized item coupon I posted yesterday. Obviously, this is a YMMV thing, but it can't hurt to try, right?

I loved seeing this in my inbox today! I think I might have to head over to the mall soon.

Leapfrog Didj $19.99 Shipped

Today only at Woot the Leapfrog Didj system is on sale for $14.99 + $5 shipping. This is a great price! If you have a birthday coming up, grab this now. Heck, the games cost more than this!

Sunday, March 28, 2010

Free Biz Detergent

Wanna score free Biz? Here's what you do. Take the Big Lots ad from today's paper to your local Target & have them price match the Big Lots sale price of 2/$5. Then use 2 $3/1 coupons from the 3/28 SS insert, have the Target cashier adjust the price down, & you just got 2 50 oz bottles of Biz for free! If they tell you they can't adjust the price down on the coupons, simply hand over your copy of Target's coupon policy which clearly states they can do that. Print it out here.

Now, some Targets will not price match a Big Lots ad because they say it's a "discount store" & therefore not a competitor. But, it can't hurt to try, right? This will be a YMMV situation, but if you find an accomodating customer service clerk, you should do fine.

Thanks to Hip2Save for this deal!

Bath & Bodyworks Coupon

Bath & Bodyworks has released another coupon for a Free Signature Collection Travel Size Item with any purchase (up to $5). I usually buy a Pocket Pac anti bacterial gel for $1.50 & get the travel size lotion that sells for $5 for free. Yes, I get the higher priced item for free!

Thanks to Mojo Savings for posting the new coupon.

$15.29 for $77.14 Worth of Products

Walgreens has some SCREAMIN' deals this week! I'll spare you the breakdown on how I did this, but I will say I did multiple transactions & used my RR to save 80%. Had I paid full price (HA!) I would have spent $77.14. Instead I spent $15.29. I'm pretty happy with that savings!

I got everything in this photo, plus a candy bar I ate while shopping. Also missing from the photo is the Butterfinger egg (like a Cadbury, but has Butterfinger inside), Wonka Runts mini eggs, Peeps, & a Lindt chocolate bunny. I had to hide those before I could take the photo!
If you had a great shopping trip at Walgreens or have any questions about my purchase, leave a comment!

So, this $3 off coupon for any ice cream cake valued at $15 or more, totally caught my eye! This would make an easy dessert for Easter or a great "just because" treat.

Some of my favorites are 2 years of Marie Claire for $10 (that's just $5 a year!), 1 year of SmartMoney for $7, 1 year of Conde Nast Traveler for $10 & 1 year of Parents for $4.97. Below are the links to all the different deals Amazon is offering; search each offer for the magazines offered.

PayPal Gift Card on Sale at Swagbucks

FYI: If you want to cash in some Swagbucks on a $5 Paypal gift card, that card will cost you less now! It's on sale for only 550 Swagbucks. I still prefer the $5 Amazon gift card for only 450 SB, but if you want cold hard cash, get the Paypal card this week while it's on sale.

Not sure what Swagbucks is? Well, it's a website that gives you points (Swagbucks) for doing things you already do; namely searching for things online. See, Swagbucks is essentially a search engine & you randomly earn Swagbucks while searching for things online. Don't be mistaken & think the results will be inadequate, because Swagbucks results come from Google & Ask.com. You accumulate Swagbucks & then cash them in for prizes. There are specific items to choose from or you can opt for gift cards from retailers such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, PayPal, & more.

Now, if you click here (or the box in the left sidebar) you can go create your own Swagbucks account. Doing so will give me a few extra Swagbucks & I'm not above begging for them. However, I wouldn't be recommending Swagbucks if I didn't think it would be beneficial to you as well. I would never sell my peeps out just for a few Swagbucks!

My guess is you'll love Swagging (I totally made that word up) as much as I do & be surprised by how quickly you accumulate Swagbucks. Try it out; what do you have to lose?

New Cellfire eCoupons

Cellfire has uploaded new eCoupons, so check them out here. Also ( this is exciting for NW readers), they have added Fred Meyer to their list of stores! No more adding it under Kroger & using a different zip code. This makes life much easier. Finally!

Blu-Ray Player $59.99

Do you guys remember that Sylvania Blu-Ray Player that I blogged about before? Well, the price has dropped! It's now just $59.99 & has free super saver shipping (or free 2 day shipping if you have Amazon Prime).

That is a great bargain on a Blu-Ray player. It's cheaper than any Black Friday deals, if I'm remembering correctly. Hurry over to Amazon if you want one.

$1/2 Campbell's Cooking Soups Coupon

Click here to get a coupon for $1/2 Campbell's Cooking soups. Pair this with a sale & you'll score cheap (possibly free?) soup. Thanks to Smart Couponing for the link.

3 Games for $3 or Less at Target

Update: My awesome reader Joy just told me that the $3/1 Target Hasbro coupon works on the Connect 4 game as well. She got it totally free using both coupons! Thanks for the tip, Joy!

Target has some great deals on board games this week! These are unbeatable prices, so buy them now & stash them away for the holidays, birthdays, heck, even a Toys For Tots donation.

Battleship $9

= $2

Monopoly $7
- $5/1 Hasbro Coupon
= $2

Connect 4 $7
- $4/1 Hasbro Coupon

40% off EO All Purpose Soap

I love EO products, & this is a great sale. These soaps are not certified organic (EO does have some certified organic products, however), but they are made with organic ingredients. Each scent comes in 2 sizes & all of the options are 40% off through April 1, 2010.

Lemon 16 oz. $5.99
Lemon 32 oz. $9.99
Peppermint 16 oz. $5.99
Peppermint 32 oz. $9.99
Lavender 16 oz. $5.99
Lavender 32 oz. $9.99

Restaurant.com: $25 Gift Card for $2

I keep reading about Restaurant.com, but I'll admit that I haven't purchased a gift card yet. I think I'm going to give them a try, though. If you aren't familiar with Restaurant.com, it's a site that sells gift cards to specific restaurants & they frequently run insanely good promos to get you to buy a card.

Through March 31st, enter code: COOK at checkout to receive 80% off the already reduced prices. For instance, a $25 gift card normally sells for $10, but with the discount, you'd pay just $2!

Now, there are some guidelines to follow. Make sure you read the fine print for each restaurant, because they all have different minimum purchase amounts, some exclude alcohol, etc. But, even if you have to spend a minimum of $35 on food, you're only paying $10 over the $25 gift card you purchased for $2, so you'd be spending a total of $12 OOP (out of pocket).

Click here to order stock up on gift cards. This really makes dining out quite affordable!

Today Only: Eco Friendly Cuddle Toy

This deal is so stinkin' cute, it makes me want to have another baby. I just might get it for my 5 year old! Today only on Eco Baby Buys, you can get a Polar Cuddle Cub toy complete with a story book about a polar bed cub for $18 + shipping. This toy is made from eco-friendly, antibacterial soy fibers, comes with an adoption certificate & book, & the best part.....the bear "shivers" because he's cold & wants your child to cuddle with it to keep it warm. It has 2 different rhythmic options & has time and hug activation options. A-dor-able!

The Polar Cuddle Cub is part of the Cloud B Endangered Species Series which helps bring awareness to our animal friends who need our attention. Also, a portion of your purchase will go to an international wildlife organization.

Welcome KOMO Viewers

Welcome KOMO viewers! I'm honored that you have stopped by. Stay a while, explore the site, & hopefully save a buck or two. I love feedback so don't hesitate to leave a comment, visit the Because More Is More Facebook page, or send me an email. And again...welcome!

Organic Baby Wash & Lotion Samples

Click here to get 1 bottle of Baby Body & Hair Wash & 1 bottle of Soft Skin Baby Lotion from Baby Barn. These are nice sized samples, too; 2.5 oz each! Baby Barn claims these are organic, however, I'm not seeing a USDA or QAI certification on their website or the photos of the products. It's still a nice freebie, though!

Thanks to Money Saving Mom for this find.

Ivar's: Get an Entree for 105 Cents

Tomorrow (3/23) head to Ivar's for a sweet deal. Buy one entree & get the second entree for only 105 cents when you say "Happy Birthday, Ivar!" Yes, he would have been 105 years old.

This deal is valid at all Ivar's Seafood bars, Ivar's Acres of Clams, Ivar's Salmon House, & Ivar's Mukilteo Landing (stadium locations are excluded). And remember....Keep Clam!

Free Photostrip from Shutterfly

You know I love a good photo deal & this one is a cute one to boot! Shutterfly has a new sister site called Wink & to convince you to try them, they are giving away a free photo strip, similar to the ones we used to get out of photo booths. And when I say free, I mean free....shipping is no charge as well!

Click here to make yours today. Either create a new account or login, & on the main page click on "Special Offers" (in the upper right). Click on "Free Photostrip offer" & then click on "Try Wink." Then select your template & photos & get to work!

Thanks to SheSaved for this freebie.

Hourly Rate for Clipping Coupons

I found this article online last month & meant to post it, but well....I forgot. The Wall Street Journal researched the benefits of clipping coupons to see if it pays off & the information is compelling. Some highlights include:

  • Coupon redemption rose 27% in 2009 compared to 2008.
  • Redemption of online coupons rose 360% last year.
  • The average saving per coupon is $1.44.
  • Assuming that average saving per coupon & assuming you clip 1 coupon per minute, the hourly rate for clipping coupons is $86.40.

My favorite part about this hourly rate is that it's tax free & anyone can do it. You just need to invest the time. So if you're wondering whether or not it's worth it, the answer seems pretty clear.

Today Only: Baby Quilt $12.99 Shipped

Kids Woot has several baby quilts on sale for $7.99 + $5 shipping. They are adorable & super affordable. As always, anything on Woot is a one day only sale, so if you want one, don't delay!

Something To Think About...

This posting won't save you a dime. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. However, I read this on another blog, The Finger Things in Life, & I loved it, so I'm sharing it with you. It made me stop & count all the blessings I have. Enjoy!

"It’s easy to think the grass is always greener in your neighbor’s yard. And perhaps it is. At least the part you can see. But remember…

When you’re weary of fixing another meal and doing dishes yet again, somebody wishes they had food to put on the table.

When you’ve folded and put away a(nother) mountain of laundry, somebody wishes their children had proper coats and hats to wear to school.

When you’re groaning over the highest heating bill yet this year, somebody wishes they weren’t so cold.

When you’re losing sleep and gagging over a child’s stomach bug episode, somebody is praying for a miracle over her child’s hospital bed.

When the exhaustion and nausea of the first trimester are about to do you in, somebody is weeping (yet again) over a negative pregnancy test.

When your headache intensifies over your teen’s college financial paperwork, somebody is visiting the site of her teen’s fatal wreck.

When you wake up to another cloudy, rainy day, somebody is praying for moisture to end a season of drought.

When you pick up your husband’s dirty socks and take out the trash because he forgot, somebody is wishing that for just a moment she didn’t have to do it all alone, all the time.

The next time your situation threatens to steal your joy, try to remember… somebody wants what you have.

Give thanks in all circumstances…1 Thessalonians 5:18"

TastyBrand Fruit Snacks Available Locally

I know I've blogged about TastyBrand's Organic Fruits snacks several times before & with good reason....they're awesome! The only thing that has frustrated me was that they weren't carried in any local stores & I had to order them online (which I happily did, but having the option to get them locally is always good, ya know?!). So, imagine how happy I am to announce that you can now get them at Haggen stores in WA & OR!

If you'd like to try them & get a deal, email info@tastybaby.com with your mailing address. They will send you a BOGO Free coupon so you can get 2 boxes for the price of 1. Trust me...your kids will thank you! If you want to check out their products, click here.

Plus, use code: sundayfreeship & score free shipping. This would make a great gift & a reasonably priced one, at that!

Olay Quench Lotion Money Maker

Starting Sunday, Walgreens will have a special on the Olay Quench Lotion that will make the rebate deal even sweeter. Buy the Olay Quench lotion in the 20.2 oz size for $7.99 & get a free Olay Quench In Shower Body Lotion (8.4 oz size, normally $4.99) free. Also, use 2 $1/1 MQ's from either the 2/14 RP insert or the 3/7 PG insert & take $1 off each lotion. YMMV (your mileage may vary) because your clerk may not take the $1 off the free in shower lotion, but it's worth trying. Then submit for the rebate.

This is how to work this scenario:

Buy Olay Quench lotion $7.99
Buy Olay Quench In Shower lotion $4.99
-$4.99 BOGO free sale
-$1/1 MQ
-$1/1 MQ
= Pay $5.99 + tax
Submit for rebate: Get $7.99 back (purchase price of 20.2 oz lotion)
= $2 money maker!

As always, thanks to Iheartwags for the advance info on the sales!

Free Kids Craft 3/20

Head over to your local Lakeshore Learning tomorrow (March 20th) between 11-3pm for the free kids craft. The project this week will be a bird feeder to welcome spring. So cute!

Kmart Coupon Dead

I'm so sorry if any of you tried to use the $10/$20 coupon today & felt like a criminal because Kmart didn't accept it. I used it yesterday & it worked. However, Kmart is now refusing to accept the coupon & is giving customers 2 reasons why they won't take it.

1) "It was only meant for Chicago & New York." Total BS because it clearly states on the coupon "valid at all Kmart stores."

2) "This was posted fraudulently online." It's ankle deep at Kmart, because that coupon was posted on their own website (& is now conveniently missing).

I'm going to call Kmart on Monday & try to get to the bottom of this. I haven't shopped there in probably 20 years...maybe longer....& this certainly isn't convincing me to give them my business. If they still give me the same BS, I plan on reporting them to my state's Attorney General for fraud. I have 10 of these coupons printed out & am more than happy to share them with the Attorney General.

Anyway, I just wanted to apologize to you guys. I always give you what I believe to be valid information. I'm sorry if you were treated rudely at Kmart. Don't let this one snafu stop you from using coupons, though!

Free Olay Quench Lotion

Through April 16th, buy a bottle of Olay Quench Lotion & send in the receipt along with this rebate & get your purchase price back. Rebates must be postmarked by April 30, 2010.

Thanks, Coupon Cravings!

Smashbox Freebie 9-3pm PST Today Only

Every Tuesday & Thursday Smashbox has a deal called "Let's Do Lunch" where they give you a free gift with any order. Today's gift is a Double Ended Lip Gloss (shade: Call Time) which retails for $24! Just place an order & after you hit submit & the freebie will show up on your order.

Additionally, you can become a Pretty Points member which has lots of perks (free shipping, points earned for all your purchases, bonus deluxe sample, birthday gift, etc.). If you're gonna buy something, you may as well get free shipping & other bonus items, right?

Lastly, you get the "Let's Do Lunch" freebie on any purchase, so make it as cheap as you can (unless you really have a specific item in mind). The Curtain Call section is items that are on sale, so pick one of those. Last week I got this lip paint for $10.50+ tax & got a ton of free stuff with it (I didn't blog about it that day because I only found out about it 10 minutes before the deal expired; I'm not gonna keep info from you guys, I swear!). I've done the deal, so don't worry about the free item not showing up until after checkout because it worked for me. And it shipped really quick, too!

I am a total product whore, so you know I'll be checking these deals out every Tuesday & Thursday! Thanks to Hip2Save for posting this deal.

Free 8x10 Photo Canvas

This deal has been on again/off again for a while, but it's on again so I had to post it. Canvas People are giving away a free 8x10 photo canvas, or you can take $55 off any of their larger sizes. Additional canvases are also 50% off. Plus, for $9.95 you can add special effects; I love the Andy Warhol-esque pop art effect!

You will pay $14.95 in shipping, but this is still an insanely good deal.

20% off Old Navy Online Today Only

So, this deal is only good through the rest of Wednesday, but you can get 20% off your online order at OldNavy.com. Use code: ONGET20 at checkout.

Thanks to SheSaved for this deal!

Reminder: Don't Forget About the Census

At BMIM, I try & refrain from discussing politics. However, I wanted to remind everyone that the US Census is taking place & you will be receiving (or may have already received) your census packet. Politics aside, our government needs accurate information about it's citizens, so completing the census is important.

This video is lighthearted & made me laugh. My favorite line is "Put one more down; someone was in the porta potty." Yes, I'm that easily amused! Click the video if you want a giggle....it's only 30 seconds. And keep an eye out for your census packet!

(Note: BMIM was compensated for posting this video. If at any point you have a question about any compensation BMIM may or may not receive, you can read the disclosure policy here or click on the "I Disclose" button in the sidebar.)

Organic Terry Cloth Hoodie & Skirt

Target has another organic Deal of the Day! Today only, you can get an organic terry cloth hoodie for $14.99 & the matching skirt for $10.99. Both of these items ship free. The sizes range from 0-3 mos to 18-24 mos.

Dumpster Diving

I've never dumpster dived, nor do I intend to, but this video is shocking. I find it obscene that stores would throw away food that isn't even bad instead of donating it to a food bank. Why? It makes no sense.

If you want to watch a video & see how one woman hasn't paid for groceries in 6 months, click here. I watched it & was appalled at the food that was thrown away!

(Note: Because More Is More is not advocating dumpster diving. It is illegal in many areas & we are in no way condoning it.)

Radio Flyer Scooter $32.96

This adorable pink Radio Flyer scooter is on sale at Amazon. Normally it retails for $65.99, but it's marked down to $32.96 & has free shipping! If you want this, snag it now, because I'm sure it will sell out.

Thanks to Hip2Save for posting this deal.

Windows 7 Pro $199.99 Today Only

I may even have to take advantage of this one. I can't stand Vista!

Get $10 Kohl's Rewards at Safeway

I had to go to Kohl's today to return something & on my way out of the store, I saw this sign. March 17-21, when you spend $50 in a single transaction at Safeway & use your Club Card, you'll get $10 in Kohl's Rewards. Typically they deduct the coupons after you hit the $50 subtotal, so you could in theory get the $10 in Kohl's Rewards for less than $50 OOP (out of pocket) after coupons. However, YMMV (your mileage may vary) depending on your Safeway.

You can do this deal as many times as you want, so happy shopping!

Puget Sound Auto Care Deal

It's not often you find a "deal" on taking care of your car, so when I saw this, I knew I had to share this with my local readers. Today only, click here to score a certificate for an oil change, full inspection, & 1 year of 24 hour roadside assistance for only $19.95 from Econo Lube Auto Care. They have 2 locations; 1 in Everett & 1 in Seattle.

Before you purchase it, click here to get $5 in "DealBucks" to use on the purchase, bringing the total down to $14.95!

Organic Onesies $9.99 Today Only

Target has several deals of the day, but I'm loving the organic baby onesies for only $9.99. And they feature free shipping, too! So cute & none of the harsh chemicals for baby's sensitive skin. Win/win!

Pricess & The Frog DVD as low as 99 cents

Target has The Princess & The Frog on sale today for $15.99 (DVD) & $26.99 (Blu Ray Combo pack). Print out a $10 off The Princess & The Frog Blu Ray Combo coupon here (be sure you print out the one for the US or the one for Canada, depending on where you are located). Or print out a $5 off The Princess & The Frog DVD coupon here.

If you buy 2 boxes of Band Aid bandages you can submit for this $5 rebate. Also, if you buy any roll of FrogTape multi purpose tape, you can submit for this $5 rebate.

Here's how I worked this deal today: I bought the DVD for $15.99 & 2 boxes of kids Band Aids for $1.82 each. I used the $5 off DVD coupon & printed out 2 of the $1 off any Band Aid product coupons from Target. I'll submit for the Band Aid rebate & that will make my net OOP (out of pocket) $7.63 for the DVD & 2 boxes of Band Aids. Pretty good!

I could not find the FrogTape at Target. If I can find it at Rite Aid, Walgreens, Fred Meyer, etc. I'll buy it & submit for the other $5 rebate, which would bring my net OOP down to only 99 cents for the DVD! And if you want the Blu Ray Combo pack, that would only be $6.99 net OOP. Talk about a great bargain!

We didn't see this in the theater & my daughter is doing a tap dance to one of the songs from this movie for her dance recital in June, so I know she'll be super excited to watch this. And watch this. And watch it some more!

Thanks to Deal Seeking Mom for this deal.

Free Dave Ramsey Class

I love Dave Ramsey. I don't agree 100% with everything he says, but the man is smart, funny, & far smarter than I am when it comes to money. So, I'd probably cut my left arm off if I thought it would improve my chances to see him in person (yes, I'm exaggerating...a smidge).

Click here to register for information regarding a series of of free Dave Ramsey seminars that will be hosted nationwide during April. The exact locations are still being determined (I'm assuming based on the online registration response), but once they are scheduled, you will be sent the dates & locations.

If any of you readers go, you must tell me all about it!

Saving Green While Going Green

I’ve heard it before: “I can’t find coupons for the stuff I buy” or “Eating organically is so expensive.” Both of these statements aren’t entirely accurate. Yes, purchasing organic/green/eco friendly items typically costs more than their conventional counterparts, but you can find deals out there; you just need to know where to look.

Here are some things I do in my quest for finding deals on organic items. Some may work & some may not depending on your location. However, all are worth trying & you may be surprised at the deals you find once you start searching.
  1. Shop at multiple stores. Yes, it’s a bit of a hassle, but finding everything you need at one store’s organic section & getting the best deal on those items is going to be virtually impossible.
  2. Make sure you keep your eyes open for peelies, blinkies, & in store flyers or magazines in the organic/natural food section. At Fred Meyer (my Kroger affiliate) they put out a magazine called “Naturally Preferred” that has great coupons for organic products. Pick up one (or four!) at each store you shop at & build up your coupon stash that way.
  3. Check the website of every manufacturer that you like or want to try. Seventh Generation, Organic Valley, Stonyfield Farms, & many more have coupons you can download. Also sign up for any newsletters they offer which often include coupons as well.
  4. Look for coupons from brands that sell organic & non organic items. Unless the coupon specifically excludes organic, use it on the organic version.
  5. Shop Costco. Costco is always adding to their inventory of organic & natural items. Just a few days ago I saw organic ground beef, chicken, apples, carrots, baby greens, & more there. I love the Ecos laundry detergent & buy the huge jug at Costco for a little less than $14 & that lasts me about 8 or 9 months!
  6. Shop Trader Joe’s. If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s near you….I’m sorry. I love that store. Most of their items are their own brand, but if they carry a brand name product, they will accept a coupon for it. Additionally, their prices are great for both the name brands & their own products.
  7. Shop online. I know, it seems weird ordering food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc. online, but you can save big this way. Amazon, Drugstore.com, & Alice.com all have amazing selections of organic or green products & often have great deals. When they do, stock up! Recently I bought enough organic tampons & pads to last me well over a year & only spent around $50 doing so. That may seem like a lot of money for tampons, but break it down per box & I paid less than conventional ones at my local store.
  8. Shop locally. Not only will you get fresher products, you’re reducing your carbon footprint by buying items that don’t need to be transported as far, & supporting your local economy. Shop farmer’s markets during nice weather. Buy directly from a farmer & buy in bulk. A quarter of a cow will cost more up front, but will likely save you in the long run. Consider joining a CSA (community supported agriculture) & get fresh produce right from the farm. Some CSA’s will let you pick your items; others just send you a selection of what’s ripe at the time. Consider it a challenge to try new fruits & vegetables. Not sure what to do with that kale that was in your delivery? Find a recipe online & experiment. But you will get your produce cheaper this way & it will be farm fresh!
  9. Grow your own. Start an organic garden & know exactly what you’re eating.

The reality is that if you are purchasing organic or green items, the prices will likely be higher. You can maximize your budget by implementing some or all of the methods described above. If you’re just starting out, go organic in phases; for example, switch to organic produce first, then add in dairy, then meats, etc. It’s an easier adjustment that way.

I won’t tell you that you can slash your budget by 75% & still buy exclusively organic. However, being a savvy consumer can save you money on these items. At the end of the day, that’s all anyone can hope for.

Lil Lads 'n Lasses Closing Sale

For my local readers: This makes me sad, because I loved Lil Lads 'n Lasses, but it isn't surprising to me. The economy is just hitting independent retailers so badly, many can't compete. This is the case with Li Lads 'n Lasses in the Mill Creek Town Center. They are going out of business this Sunday. Everything is 50% off the lowest marked price & they are even selling the fixtures in the store. Grab a bargain & wish them the best of luck.

This makes me so sad. My daughter even modeled in one of their fashion shows a few years ago. I love the big box stores just as much as the next person, but I also have a soft spot for small businesses. Shop the mom & pop stores when you can, you guys....otherwise there won't be any left.

Free Everlast Sample

Click here to get a free sample of Everlast Nutritional Supplements. You can choose from either Energy or Recovery.

You have until 3/31/10 to use this code, but it states "or while supplies last." So, you don't need to do this tonight, but I wouldn't delay, either.

Thanks to Mama Cheaps for this freebie!

NW Readers: Watch Ciscoe Morris Filming

I am soooo not a gardener; I have a black thumb. But, if you're into gardening & live in the Puget Sound area, then this is for you. Thursday, March 11th around 10:00 am, Ciscoe Morris will be filming a segment of "Gardening with Ciscoe" at My Garden Nursery in Mill Creek.

While I have a black thumb, I can still appreciate a nice garden. And My Garden Nursery is by far my favorite nursery to wander around in. They have a great selection of gift items & even a train table to keep my daughter occupied! Check out My Garden at their website here.

My mom is a total Ciscoe Morris freak, so it's best if I don't tell her about this. Otherwise Mr. Morris might need to take out a restraining order against her (I kid, I kid!).

Thanks to Thrifty Jenny for this freebie.

Babies R Us: Breastfeeding Event

Tomorrow night (3/9) at 6:30 pm Babies R Us stores nationwide will be hosting Breastfeeding 101 workshops. Get all the info here. Registration is recommended for this event.

And just remember....even though you're attending this workshop, your baby might not be paying attention! But, I'm sending good nursing vibes to all you expectant mamas!

Free Huggies Sample

Costco is giving away samples of Huggies Snug & Dry diapers. This freebie does NOT require you to be a Costco member. Click here & order your sample today.

(Even if you don't need diapers, order a sample & donate it to a food bank, shelter, etc. When I got my last sample, they were sealed in plastic & ready to donate. Sure, it's only 2 diapers...but every bit helps!)

Giveaway: Blue Avocado Shopping Bags

Mambo Sprouts is giving away three starter kits or two chill bags from Blue Avocado. These are way more stylish than a plastic grocery bag & better for the environment to boot! Click here to enter. You have until March 22nd to enter, but why delay? Do it now!

Bath & Bodyworks Free Shipping 3/8

Today only score free shipping on any order from Bath & Bodyworks. Use code: SHIP4FREE at checkout. I need some more foaming antibacterial soap, so I'm on my way there today. Darn it; if this code had come out last week it would have saved me a trip to the mall!
