Walgreens Money Maker

UPDATE: Thanks to CJ for reminding me that Wags in-ad coupons do NOT beep when used with a MQ, so you don't need a filler item to do this deal. Interestingly enough, Register Rewards do count as a coupon, though. I know, it can be confusing! But to do this moneymaker, you do not need the filler item. Thanks, CJ!

This week Walgreens has a deal where you can possibly earn $2.79 or at least get a Sure for Men Deodorant free! These normally retail for $2.79 each. Here's the details:

Clip the $1.50/1 Sure for Men Deodorant coupon from the Smartsource insert in today's (1/24) paper. Then clip the 2/$3 coupon in Walgreens ad in today's (1/24) paper. Head into Walgreens & look for the Sure for Men deodorant & be on the lookout for one that has a "Try Me Free" sticker on it. Not all of them have that sticker on it, so it would be worth your time to look at all of them (FYI, the one I saw with this sticker was the Mountain Frost scent).

Now, if you're not familiar with how Walgreens handles coupons here's the nuts & bolts of it: You cannot use more coupons than you have items in your total purchase. So in this case, you're using 2 coupons for 1 deodorant, so you will need to add a small "filler" item to your total purchase. Look for cheap things up front like the 39 cent packages of microwave popcorn, 39 cent pencils or pens, etc. You just need 1 other item & it can be any price.

So when the clerk is done ringing up your 2 items (deodorant & 1 filler item) hand over the manufacturer coupon first, then the Walgreens in ad coupon. The $1.50 will come off & then the in ad coupon will adjust down to $1.29 making the deodorant free. Then if you were lucky enough to find a stick with the "Try Me Free" sticker on it, you can go to Sure's website & print a rebate form, submit it, & make a profit of $2.79 when you get the rebate check. Pretty sweet for simply clipping 2 coupons & sending off the rebate form!

  1. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the Walgreens in ad coupons are not counted as actual coupons. So you should not need a filler to get this for free using both coupons.

  2. CJ, you're right....I totally spaced out on that! I'll update above; thanks for pointing that out to me.
