The sheer brilliance of this idea is in it's simplicity. Have you or your spouse ever needed a specific tool for a project that you don't have? And then you think "Great, now I have to go & spend more money just to get this done." Well, you may not have to do that any longer, thanks to tool libraries!
Yes, you read that correctly. Tool libraries are popping up all over the US, Canada, & Australia. Currently there are tool libraries in 16 states. Click here to see a list of locations. Here's the link to Seattle's tool library, the Phinney Neighborhood Association's Tool Library. The Seattle tool library asks for a suggested donation amount per tool, but others let you borrow them for free. However, even if you did make a donation, it's much cheaper than buying the item.
Maybe I'm easily amused, but I think this is fantastic. Thanks to Frugal Living NW for posting this!

Tool libraries permit supporters to look at or get tools, gear, and how-to instructional materials, working each as a rental store, with a cost for getting the tools, or all the more usually for nothing out of pocket as a type of network sharing.
